
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek , born 2 September 1966)[3][4][5]) is an American and Mexican actress. Her career started in Mexico which she played in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) which brought her an Ariel Award nomination. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were just some of her many Hollywood credits. Hayek's portrayal as Frida the painter in Frida (2002), which she also co-produced was what resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. The film also brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek played the lead in the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico films in the following years and shifted her focus to producing.
